CHIT CHAT WITH ADITYA #2 : ROZEEN

“You don’t inspire others by being perfect, you inspire them by how you deal with your imperfections”.

Welcome back to another episode of ‘CHIT CHAT WITH ADITYA’. Today we have with us a social media specialist and a part time travel blogger, Mrs. Rozeen. She owns a travel blog named ‘Wandering Rozie’ and an Instagram page with 7.2 k followers! I’ll link all her social media handles below, go check them out. But for now, enjoy the interview.

Q : Let’s start with a brief introduction of yours.

A: My name is Rozeen. I’m half Jordanian – half Romanian living in the UAE. I am a part-time solo traveller. I started traveling solo 4 years ago. Been to 30 countries so far and hoping to reach 60 by the age of 40 (which is 4 years away).

Q : You’re a social media specialist. So, what exactly is your work? How do you manage it with travel? And what tips do you have for those who are aspiring to be in the same field.

A: I create social media strategies and plan multimedia campaigns, over the years I had the privilege to work with international brands in multiple sectors (FMCG, sports, finance, beauty, community, lifestyle and fashion). The digital industry is constantly changing and you need to always be up to date to keep up. It is a very exciting and dynamic industry that is also very rewarding as you will be able to watch the effect your work can have on real people in real-time.
For me personally, I’m never really disconnected. I always have my phone and laptop with me where ever I go, even when I’m on my annual leave.

Q : I was quite intrigued by the crystal ball that you use in your Instagram posts. What’s the story behind it?

A: I saw it once on my Instagram feed and spent hours looking for it. I also don’t like showing my face much online, so this was a cool way to take memorable travel photos.

Q : What is the first trip you remember taking and how old were you?

A: I’ve been travelling since I was 3 years old, but the first trip that I remember was when I was 6 years old heading to Romanian (where my mom’s from) from Jordan by bus.

Q : I’m sure you’d be having many funny travel stories. Do you mind sharing a few?

A: My first trip to London comes to mind. I landed at Gatwick airport and took the train to get to my hotel. While moving around between the underground stations, I took a wrong train by mistake and spent the next hour moving around between stations carrying my 25kg bag up and down the stairs. I was pleasantly surprised that plenty of people offered to help carry the bag, but I was too shy to let them.

Q : Have you been anywhere which turned out to be totally different to what you imagined? If so, how?

A: I would say Budapest was a very pleasant surprise. The city is very tourist-friendly and there is just so much to see. The food is great (and I’m a picky eater usually) and people are so friendly.

Q : If you were not travelling, what would you be doing instead?

A: I’ve always wanted to be a singer, but I have a horrible singing voice. I’m doing the world a favour 😀

Q : What has travel taught you?

A: That I can enjoy being alone and can always find a way to solve any problem.

Q : What is your typical daily budget while travelling?

A: Taking the hotel out of the equation, I would say $30-50 a day. I like buying tons of fridge magnets and gifts for my niece and nephew. So sometimes the budget is a bit higher.

Q : Do you have any advice or tips for aspiring travellers?

A: Don’t wait for your partner, friends, or family to travel. You can have a lot of fun on your own and maybe make some new friends there.

Q : To conclude with, any message or learning that you’d like to share with our readers.

A: Don’t expect to have the perfect trip every time, sometimes things go bad, and you need to manage. Learn to enjoy every moment, even the bad ones.

Q : Surprise fun element, Rapid fire round :
